From Dublin you make the short journey to Waterford where you can visit the iconic Waterford Crystal Factory or journey on to the Copper Coast. Make a pit-stop in Cork, the Rebel County.

 

Cork is a bustling city on the south coast of Ireland where culture and heritage abounds. You can visit the the old gaol (jail & pronounced jail too) or the seaside town of Kinsale. The Old Head Golf Course is there for the golfer who dares! The road continues to the charming county of Kerry, as known as the Kingdom. The dramatic scenery of the sea, mountains and lakes awaits you – there are so many photo opportunities of scenery, people and craic (Irish for fun).

 

With two days here you have time to do the famous Ring of Kerry, take a boat trip to the Skelligs weather permitting (location of the filming of the new Star Wars movie) or a horse and trap trip through the Gap of Dunloe, so much to choose from! Finally, finish off your tour in Limerick. Adare is known as one of Ireland’s prettiest villages and is situated only about a 15-minute drive from the city centre.

Malin Head is the most northern point in Ireland and is home to some breathtakingly beautiful scenery. Advance further down the coast now to Sligo. This county is well-known for W.B. Yeats, whose poetry was influenced by his summers spent here. His final resting place is also in Sligo. The Sligo Abbey is not to be missed, a ruined abbey built in 1253.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text el_class=”p-text-align-justified”]You will then continue along The Wild Atlantic Way and spend 2 nights in County Mayo. If you dare, climb up to the top to see the small chapel (it only takes two hours!) and the beautiful Clew Bay which is overlooked by Croagh Patrick. After your time in Mayo, you will head on to Galway.

While in Galway you can venture further west into Connemara and experience some more of the Wild Atlantic Way. Killarney National Park (Irish: Páirc Náisiúnta Chill Airne) is located beside the town of Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland. It was the first national park established in Ireland, created when Muckross Estate was donated to the Irish state in 1932. The park has since been substantially expanded and encompasses over 102.89 km2 (25,425 acres) of diverse ecology, including the Lakes of Killarney, Oak and Yew woodlands of international importance, and mountain peaks. It has Ireland's only native herd of Red Deer and the most extensive covering of native forest remaining in Ireland. The park is of high ecological value because of the quality, diversity, and extensiveness of many of its habitats and the wide variety of species that they accommodate, some of which are rare. The park was designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1981. The park forms part of a Special Area of Conservation. Killarney National Park is one of the very few places in Ireland that has been continuously covered by woodland since the end of the most recent glacial period,] approximately 10,000 years ago. Humans have lived in the area since at least the Bronze Age, approximately 4,000 years ago. Archaeologists have found evidence that copper mining took place in the Ross Island area during this period, which suggests that the area was of considerable importance to Bronze Age people. The park has many archaeological features, including a well preserved stone circle at Lissivigeen.

From Dublin you make the short journey to Waterford, where you can visit the iconic Waterford Crystal Factory or journey on to the Copper Coast. Your journey will continue on to Cork, The Rebel County. Cork is a bustling city on the south coast of Ireland where culture and heritage abounds. You can visit the the old gaol (jail & pronounced jail too) or the seaside town of Kinsale. Old Head Golf Course is there for the golfer who dares!

Staying on the west coast you cross into Clare; a must-see are the Cliffs of Moher (Harry Potter quidditch scenes were filmed here). Stop in to a traditional pub for an Irish music session and more banter!

 

The port city of Galway will wrap you in its romantic charm. The Spanish Armada sought refuge here from stormy seas in 1588 and many stayed as they found the people so welcoming and charming!
