Day 1 – Royal Welcome in Windsor

Your tour begins with a 2:00 PM departure from your hotel to visit the magnificent Windsor Castle — a residence of the King and the oldest, largest continuously inhabited castle in the world. After exploring its grand State Apartments and historic grounds, enjoy a guided walking tour through the charming medieval town of Windsor. In the evening, gather with your group for a welcome drink before enjoying dinner and free time to explore at your leisure.

Begin your day at the iconic Stonehenge, where you’ll explore the prehistoric circle of massive monoliths and delve into the mysteries of its ancient creators. Continue to the historic city of Salisbury to visit its stunning cathedral, renowned for having the tallest spire in England. Later, arrive in Tavistock, a welcoming market town set on the edge of Dartmoor National Park in Devon.

Journey through the scenic landscapes of Cornwall, passing the wild beauty of Bodmin Moor. Pause for photos at the historic Jamaica Inn, built in 1750 and made famous by Daphne du Maurier’s tale of smugglers and intrigue. Continue to the coastal village of Marazion to view the striking silhouette of St Michael’s Mount, a tidal island crowned with a dramatic castle. In the charming fishing town of St Ives, enjoy a guided walking tour through its cobbled streets, quaint cottages, vibrant art galleries, and golden beaches. Spend some free time exploring at your own pace before returning to Tavistock for a relaxed evening.

Explore the charming city of Bath, known for its graceful Georgian architecture built from distinctive golden stone and admired by visitors for generations. Visit the remarkably preserved Roman Baths, a fascinating glimpse into the city’s ancient past, and enjoy free time to wander its picturesque streets, boutique shops, and inviting cafés. Later, cross the Severn Bridge into Wales and continue to your elegant manor house hotel, where you’ll enjoy a relaxing dinner this evening.

Journey through the scenic landscapes of Brecon Beacons National Park en route to Hay-on-Wye, a charming town renowned for its abundance of bookshops and literary heritage. Continue to Shrewsbury, a picturesque market town near the English-Welsh border, where you’ll enjoy a walking tour led by the town crier. Stroll along narrow streets lined with distinctive black-and-white timber-framed buildings. Then travel through the county of Cheshire to reach your hotel in the historic city of Chester.

Travel through the picturesque countryside of North Wales to the medieval town of Conwy, crowned by the imposing Conwy Castle. Tour this remarkable 13th-century UNESCO World Heritage Site, built by Edward I, and admire its well-preserved walls, towering battlements, and sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. Continue to the historic city of Chester, where a guided walking tour reveals its rich Roman and medieval heritage, including the iconic city walls and timber-framed buildings. Enjoy a free evening to explore Chester at your leisure.

Journey through the breathtaking landscapes of the Lake District, whose rolling hills and tranquil lakes inspired the beloved tales of Beatrix Potter. Stop in the picturesque village of Grasmere to visit the grave of poet William Wordsworth and see the charming setting where he once lived. Continue north, crossing the border into Scotland with a brief stop in the romantic village of Gretna Green, famed for its historic elopements. Arrive at your hotel near Edinburgh and enjoy dinner with your group.

Begin your exploration of central Edinburgh in the 200-year-old “New Town,” known for its elegant Georgian architecture and orderly streets, once home to renowned writers and inventors. Continue to the historic Royal Mile, lined with narrow medieval buildings that lead to the iconic Edinburgh Castle. Tour the castle to view the Scottish Crown Jewels and learn about the city’s royal history. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure to discover more of Edinburgh. For departures between August 3–17, enjoy reserved seating at the world-famous Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, held on the castle esplanade.

Your tour concludes in Edinburgh after breakfast. Say farewell to your fellow travelers as you depart with wonderful memories of your journey through the UK and Ireland.
